External Quality Review - QESR
The Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Scotland currently adopt a two-phase methodology for external review. This comprises Phase 1 covering the delivery of the Quality Enhancement and Standards Review (QESR) and Institutional Liaison Meetings (ILMs); this approach applies to Scottish HEIs in the period 2022-24. This follows the previous cyclical method know as Enhancement-Led Institutional Review (ELIR).
Our QESR took place in March 2023; a link to the full QESR report is provided below, along with the resulting Action plan which was approved by Senate on 4 October 2023. The UWS QESR follow-up Institutional Liaison Meeting is scheduled for 22 February 2024 and we shall now work towards progressing these actions.
The new external institutional review method (Phase 2) is currently being developed within the context of a major Scottish Funding Council (SFC) review – Coherent Provision and Sustainability: A Review of Tertiary Education and Research. The new tertiary quality arrangements will be agreed during 2023-24 for implementation in 2024-25.
