WELCOME WEEK
Welcome Week takes place 9th to 13th September 2024 on all campuses.
If you’re a new student, It’s the ideal opportunity to meet your fellow classmates, make friends, get to know your new surroundings before teaching starts and settle into your new life as a UWS student.
If you’re a returning student, it’s also a great way to ease you back into life at UWS.

Welcome inductions
Make sure to check out when and where your school and programme inductions will be. You can do this on our programme induction page of our website. Your school and programme welcomes will introduce you to some of the academic staff you’ll work with throughout your studies and explain more about your programme of study and what’s expected. This is also where you will be able to grab your free UWS goodie bag if you are new student!
Campus tours
If your Programme Leader has booked a campus tour, you will be collected from your programme induction. This is your chance to find out more about your campus from an experienced fellow student and ask questions. Campus tours are led by our Student Buddies, who are students in their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years. You’ll learn where the library, student hub, union, café, classrooms, study spaces and more are located. Our Student Buddies know how it feels to be a new student so don’t be afraid to ask them about what uni life is like!
West Fest
You’re our guest at West Fest! Going on all around campus, at West Fest you can try out circus skills, hear some live music, spend some time with a therpet, indulge in some arts and crafts, take a selfie by an iconic UWS spot, or play some games with your new classmates. Activities vary by campus so check out your local timetable to see what’s on.
Make sure to visit the West Fest stalls at the Student Hub area to get a taste of the many different resources and services available to support you during your studies at UWS as well as try out some fun activities.
It’s okay to take some time for yourself too, so much new information can be overwhelming – check our zen zones or visit the library for a quiet calm spot to take a break.
