Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences Showcase – Paisley Campus
- Open Days & Info Sessions
Our Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences Showcase gives you the perfect opportunity to get in-person experience of your subject and course of choice before the UCAS application deadline on 29 January 2025. You will get to experience what studying at UWS is really like, take part in some hands-on activities, chat to our academics and current students, and ask any questions you have.
This showcase will cover the following programmes:
Register for Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences Showcase - Paisley Campus
Registration and opportunity to speak to Student Recruitment, Colleges and Widening Participation Team.
Overview of the Applied Computing programmes
Active session, Creative Communication: Building the Internet - Using Python as a programming language, we will consider what is required for a communications network, and build a network out of Micro:bits. We'll then implement different kinds of network, and try to connect networks together, solving some of the problems we meet along the way.
Overview of the Creative Computing programmes
Active session, Music Technology - A showcase of student work spanning Audio post-production, Music composition and Honours projects.
Overview of the Engineering programmes
Active session: Bernoulli’s Principle: how we measure fluid pressure and velocity - You will learn how pressure of fluids are measured by using Bernoulli’s Principle. You’ll be shown engineering equipment and systems that use fluid pressure and velocity to run and produce engineering results. You will also learn about the physics of flow around you and have the chance to interact with scientific calculations.
Overview of the Chemistry programmes
You will have the opportunity to learn about and perform an experiment using our state-of-the-art laboratory instrumentation.
Overview of the Forensic Science programmes
Active lab session: Crime Scene Investigation Techniques - You will have the opportunity to learn about and perform an experiment using our state-of-the-art laboratory instrumentation.
Overview of the Mathematics and Physics programmes
Active session - speak with an academic about study options in Mathematics and Physics.
