CAS Information - Applying to UWS London Campus

UWS is licensed to sponsor students under the Student Route of the points-based system.

The CAS is not an actual certificate. Each CAS has a unique reference number and contains information about the course of study for which it has been issued and the student’s personal details. You must be in possession of a CAS before you apply for your UK Student Visa.

The Admissions team will issue your CAS. Please note that your CAS is unique to you, UWS and your visa application. It is important and must be kept safely and used to apply for your UK student visa.

Your CAS will be issued when you have met all of the conditions of your offer and meet all UK Visa & Immigration requirements. Please note that if you are currently living overseas you can apply for your visa within 6 months of the course start date. If you are currently living in the UK you can apply for your visa within 3 months of the course start date. If you provide all of the required documentation the university will issue you with your CAS.

CAS Deadlines

For applicants in the UK the deadline is 1 week after enrolment commences. 

Please note visa processing times may vary from country to country, especially during peak times.

• Payment of the deposit of 50% of tuition fees. To find out how to pay your deposit once your offer is unconditional, please log into your application, and view the decision of your application

• Provide evidence of sufficient funds to pay any outstanding course fees as stated on the CAS, and £1,334 for each month of the course (up to a maximum of 9 months)*
• If you have dependents you are also required to have living costs of £845 per month for each dependent
• Please submit your bank statement providing evidence that you have had the sufficient funds in place for at least 28 consecutive days, or letter of financial sponsorship (Embassy Sponsorship) or confirmation of an educational loan. (subject to change)
• Tuberculosis Clearance Certificate (relevant to applicable countries only). Further details can be found on the Home Office website
• An ATAS certificate, if this is required for your course (only applicable to certain MSc & PhD courses)

* Please note, visa applications submitted after 1st January 2025 will be required to have funds of  £1,483 for each month of the course (up to a maximum of 9 months)

International students must show that they have held the required amount of funds (tuition fee and living costs) in their bank for a period of 28 consecutive days. Bank statement must be within 1 month of visa application. Bank statement has to be on official letterhead or bear company stamp.

If you are relying on money held by your parent(s) / legal guardian(s) you will need to provide us with the following information: bank statement, birth certificate confirming relationship and an affidavit or letter confirming that they have given their consent to you using their funds to study in the UK.

Any document not in English - a certified translation must be provided.
