This page contains a list of frequently asked questions and answers which outlines the important information that you need to know regarding your Confirmation of Accepatance of Studies (CAS).
Is UWS an Official sponsor?
UWS is licensed to sponsor students under the Student Route of the points-based system.
What is a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)?
The CAS is not an actual certificate. Each CAS has a unique reference number and contains information about the course of study for which it has been issued and the student’s personal details. You must be in possession of a CAS before you apply for your UK Student Visa.
Who will send out my CAS?
The Admissions team will issue your CAS. Please note that your CAS is unique to you, UWS and your visa application. It is important and must be kept safely and used to apply for your UK student visa.
When will I receive my CAS?
Your CAS will be issued when you have met all of the conditions of your offer including confirmation that you have paid the deposit of a minimum of 50% of your tuition fees and meet all UK Visa & Immigration requirements. Please note that if you are currently living overseas you can apply for your visa within 6 months of the course start date. If you are currently living in the UK you can apply for your visa within 3 months of the course start date. If you provide all of the required documentation the university will issue you with your CAS.
Normally, the University requires a payment of a minimum of 50% of the net tuition fee prior to CAS issuance, with the balance payable in instalments thereafter. While payment of a minimum of 50% of the net tuition fee is the standard requirement, a higher than minimum payment may often be perceived as a very strong indicator of a student’s commitment to their study in the UK and consequently this helps them to demonstrate their credibility as a genuine student – a critical factor in both the University application process and the UK visa application process.
While the University does not presently require an applicant to pay a deposit higher than the minimum 50%, we nevertheless strongly recommend that applicants do pay a higher than minimum 50% deposit wherever possible, especially where our official and highly trusted representatives recommend this course of action as a result of their significant knowledge and experience of the market and sector.
Please be aware that it is the University’s decision to sponsor a student (issue a CAS) or not, and an integral part of that evaluation lies in having satisfactory evidence of the credibility of a genuine student, including the ability to finance their studies and living costs.
When is the latest date I can receive my CAS?
For out-of-the-UK applicants, the CAS deadline(s) for each intake are shown above.
For applicants in the UK the deadline is 1 week after enrolment commences.
Please note visa processing times may vary from country to country, especially during peak times.

How long do the funds for my living costs need to be held in my bank account?
International students must show that they have held the required amount of funds (tuition fee and living costs) in their bank for a period of 28 consecutive days. Bank statement must be within 1 month of visa application. Bank statement has to be on official letterhead or bear company stamp.
