UWS welcomes Chief Nursing Officer to Dumfries campus
Scotland’s Interim Chief Nursing Officer, Anne Armstrong, visited UWS Dumfries Ccampus today to see the state-of-the-art nursing facilities and learn how the partnership with NHS Dumfries and Galloway (D&G) is improving rural healthcare.
Accompanied by members of NHS D&G, Mark Kelly, Nurse Director, Gail Meier, Associate Nurse Director, and NHS Lead for Education Christina Hoare, Ms Armstrong toured the University’s cutting-edge skills suite and met with nursing students and staff – allowing them to highlight UWS’s role in addressing regional healthcare challenges through education and training.
During the visit Ms Armstrong saw nursing students demonstrate practical skills in a simulated clinical environment, reflecting the hands-on learning opportunities that prepare graduates to excel in their future careers.
Speaking about the visit, the Interim Chief Nursing Officer, said: "It was a pleasure to visit UWS’s Dumfries Campus and see firsthand the exceptional work being done to prepare the next generation of nurses.
"The dedication of the students and the approaches to teaching and learning on display are crucial in meeting the healthcare challenges of today and tomorrow.
