After undertaking her first degree and deciding on a change in career path, the University’s MSc Information Technology seemed like the perfect choice to Chloe Whitfield.
Chloe, 25, who graduated the University’s popular MSc Information Technology in 2019 with Distinction, said: “When I decided to do a Masters course I researched my choices of universities laboriously. I wanted to attend the university I believed would offer me the best education, learning support and opportunities to land my first professional position. UWS was top of my list. UWS genuinely seemed like a university that enriched and invested in their students which was a key factor for me.
“The academics are so supportive and I am quite sure that without their help I would not have been able to complete my Masters on time and to the quality required to graduate with Distinction.
“Another rather large hurdle, like all other students, is applying for and prepping for job positions. During my time at UWS I made great use of the Careers and Skill service: using the online graduate CV template; attending careers appointments; discussing, modifying and polishing off my CV and utilising the employment websites provided. This service provided a fundamental advantage in applying for jobs and gave me an understanding of how to portray key skills, experiences and education in a manner most attractive to potential employers.”
For Chloe, who currently holds the post of Oracle Developer with European Tyre Enterprise Limited, one of the best things about studying at the University was the staff and students.
She added: “Despite the various opportunities for learning and growth my experience was made far more enjoyable due to the like-mindedness of fellow students and the approachability and encouraging nature of the UWS staff. Classes were a breeding ground of collaboration, shared mutual interests and discussion of interesting key concepts within the course. The staff were accommodating, and also challenged students to be ambitious and think outside the box. It is one thing to study and learn about your chosen degree topics and a completely other thing to thoroughly enjoy yourself in the process.
“For anyone thinking about studying at UWS I would say grasp the opportunity with both hands. If you’re seeking knowledge, excellent learning opportunities, friends with shared interests as well as all but being guaranteed to excel after university then UWS is place for you!”
