Learning from each other
When you ask John McVeigh what the best thing about studying at UWS is, he’s very clear on his answer. “It’s the people,” he says. “The teaching staff are exceptional, but you don’t only learn from them. You learn from other students too.”
John is a recent graduate of our MSc Leading People-centred Integrated Care programme at UWS and feels that he really benefited from his fellow students who brought their own knowledge, experience and different backgrounds to play. “I was able to share my own views and practices as part of the course, but it was really interesting and beneficial to my learning journey to be able to hear the perspectives and experiences of my fellow students.”
John, an SVQ Coordinator & Lecturer at City of Glasgow College, also highlights how much impact the programme has had on his career. “The teaching has already allowed me to update my skills and knowledge and add this to my teaching practice,” he says. “It has given me a wider knowledge of integrated care and allowed me to add this content to the courses and modules that I teach. It has also now allowed me to teach new courses and modules.”
And what would John say to anyone considering joining UWS to study this programme? “Do it! I have really enjoyed the experience and it all started from an accidental conversation at an event. UWS is a great university, with a world-leading research and teaching team, along with great campuses with brilliant facilities. Don’t put it off, just do it!”
