This is the foundation year where you will be introduced to a range of subjects relating to the wider context of business management including marketing, finance and managing people in addition to the core specific modules Discovering Live Events and Tourism & The Experience Economy.
This is the planning and operational year where knowledge and understanding of event design, tourism operations, consumer behaviour and their impacts on society is expanded through staging a live event.
This year focuses on management and experiences for events and tourism. You will develop specialised knowledge of these industries in a range of contexts including Eventful Places and Tourism, Transport and Mobility.
This year will also involve developing research skills and knowledge in preparation for the final year. You will also have the opportunity to select modules to suit your own area of interest including a range of language options.
In this Honours year, you will complete a dissertation focusing on a relevant topic of your choice. You will develop a detailed knowledge of the global issues and trends impacting the events and tourism industries, this will be supported by the development of a strategic understanding of events and tourism policy.
You will also have the opportunity to select an optional module that strengthens your own area of interest and career aspirations.
You will be taught through a combination of lectures, tutorials and workshops.
You will also have the opportunity to take part in group work and independent learning to develop your transferable skills such as research, presentation, communication and working as part of a team.

Graduates from this programme have gone on to secure positions in hotels, venues, conference and convention facilities, including the OVO Hydro, and sports facilities, including Ibrox, Parkhead and Hampden.
They have also worked as part of large-scale events like the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics.
Additionally, we have graduates securing various fundraising and event roles for charities, at visitor attractions as well as marketing and research roles.
