Our work in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
UWS is Scotland’s leading university for its impact on reducing inequalities, according to a global higher education league table.
The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings for 2021 measures universities’ success in delivering against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and has placed UWS as first in Scotland and fifth in the UK for SDG 10 – reducing inequalities.
These global Impact Rankings assess more than 1,100 universities worldwide, with UWS ranked in the 101-200 category. UWS also recorded an institutional score of 83.4 out of 100 for its efforts in meeting the goals set by the United Nations.
Our Strategy 2025 sets out ambitious targets for UWS to be recognised as a world-leading university through our learning and teaching, our distinctive research and innovation, and the way in which we shape our communities and society. UWS aims to be a provider of choice for students and business and believes that embedding equality, diversity and human rights in our organisation is integral to achieving this aim.
At UWS we are committed to advancing and promoting equality and diversity in all of our activities and aim to establish an inclusive culture, free from discrimination and based upon the values of fairness, dignity and respect. We are committed to enhancing wellbeing and have the structures, leadership and support in place to embed equality, diversity and inclusion into everything we do.
